Autodesk Maya is a software environment for 3D modeling, animation, and VFX production. It has gained popularity among modern professionals in video production, game development, movie effects, character art, and many other industries thanks to its easy-to-learn rigging and animating tools, a wide variety of built-in simulation plugins, and practical modelling environment. Most blockbuster movies and games in the current market have been partially made with Maya.
If you are a studio looking to outsource your Maya rendering or a creative who needs to accelerate your workflow, Megarender Maya render farm can become your new partner.
Benefits of Render Farm for Maya
Maya’s workflow is based on shared projects that multiple people can contribute to. This can comprise several artists working on different objects, or specialists with specific areas of responsibility – one working on modeling, another on rigging, another on animating, and others creating materials. At any time, a project can be rendered at one of the involved workstations or on a dedicated rendering node.
Working in Maya (modelling, animating, etc.) and rendering have differing hardware demands. For a smooth Maya GUI experience, it is recommended to have a CPU with high-frequency cores and a modern GPU (a high-end GPU may be preferable for simulations). However, for rendering in Arnold, the number of cores is more important than their individual frequency, and the GPU VRAM volume becomes critical. Rendering on a workstation is slow and working on a rendering node is sluggish.
That’s why using a render farm – an array of servers built specifically for rendering – is an efficient solution for both small and large creative teams. Outsourcing the final renders to a Maya render farm frees workstations and drastically accelerates rendering times, due to its distribution across several rendering nodes.
Maya + Arnold Pipeline at Megarender
The Megarender render farm provides manual rendering of Maya projects in Arnold, offering an individual approach for each customer. We install the matching software versions and ensure that all the plugins are up-to-date.
Collect your project, including all textures, caches, and other assets into a single archive and upload it to the File Manager (via a Google Drive link or send us another cloud link). Alternatively, you can connect to our FTP via FileZilla or any other ftp client. We’ll set up a rendering pool for the project and run tests to calculate the overall project rendering time and cost. Once all the details are agreed upon and the prepayment is made, your project will be rendered. The results will be available at our FTP service and uploaded to Google Drive or your cloud service of choice.
We can sign an NDA before starting the project to ensure the security of your files. We can also install other rendering engines for Maya (V-Ray, Octane, etc.). Tell us about your project in our tech support chat or send us an email at info@megarender.com.
